As well as the tiny insects and other animals which break down dead plant material to provide nutrients, beneficial bacteria are vital to good soil health. Using the petri plate gives an idea of how healthy the populations are in your soil.

Please store the petri dish in the fridge until used. Once cultures have grown dispose of in the rubbish as there could be harmful pathogens growing.
